Marie is still away on her trip to survey a cross section of Bhutanese farmers and distributers to better understand the dairy chain. It’s her first time leading a team and she’s loving it.

I, on the other hand, have been moping around the house for a couple of weeks. The trip back from Varanasi left me emotionally drained, coming back to live in a rubbish dump didn’t help and neither did finding out about family problems. Not that I’ve been completely idle. Priority number 1 was getting the shelves up so that I could turn our rubbish dump into a home. The result is fantastic, with a larger living room than I knew we had and a desk with room to put papers for reading. Unfortunately, bricks in Bhutan look like cakes baked without a tin. It was almost impossible to find two edges straight enough to create a stable base, but I managed to balance the opposing leans of bricks in most cases. But the ones left over for my study were all convex so the shelves rock. I don’t yet know whether the printer on the top shelf will cause the whole thing to fall over. I’ve left tidying the bedroom for Marie as most of the rubbish in there is her work stuff and if I try to place it all on the shelves, she’ll probably claim she can’t find anything.

I’ve also been working on the web site. After numerous attempts to create a new look, I gave up. I should be focusing on work and just want to get this done. So it’s almost the same as before. I believe I still need to find out what’s wrong with the RSS, but that’s not a priority for me now.

And the time off, cycling, slowly cleaning up my personal life, has helped. I almost feel ready to go back to work tomorrow. Lots to do. Tax reports to be made. People to call. Clients to find.

It’s been a long slow recovery.
