This post is actually from a few days ago, but I’d forgotten what I wanted to write by the time I got home and it only just came to me. It had been a beautiful day, one of the first sunny days in weeks, when out of nowhere, it started raining. Sun shower we call it in Australia. Clear blue skies, rain pouring onto the main street, rainbow settling on the monestary at the end of the valley.
‘Oh, no,’ said Yeshey, one of the girls at the office. ‘Someone died.’ She noticed my questioning look. ‘That’s what we believe when it rains while the sun’s out.’
‘Someone’s dying all the time. Do you mean someone that you know? Or someone in Thimphu since everyone in Thimphu is having the same experience?’
She pouted. ‘I don’t know. It’s just what we believe.’
